Explore D.C.'s History & Famous Attractions

When you're planning fun things to do in Washington D.C., you don't have to choose between sightseeing and racing. After revving up your day at Fl® Arcade, it's easy to keep the momentum going by visiting some of Washington, D.C.'s most iconic landmarks, all of which are free, easy to navigate, and within walking distance of each other.

National Mall

Take a short stroll to the National Mall, which stretches for almost two miles between the United States Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial and serves as Washington's cultural and historical centerpiece. Spend time wandering the wide, tree-lined paths and exploring the world-renowned Smithsonian museums that line both sides.

Be sure to take in the National Air and Space Museum, where you can get up close to legendary aircraft and space capsules, and the National Museum of American History, which tells the story of the United States through powerful artifacts, from the Star-Spangled Banner to presidential memorabilia.

Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and Reflecting Pool

Standing tall at the center of the National Mall, the Washington Monument is one of D.C's most recognizable landmarks, and it's even more impressive up close. The towering obelisk reaches 555 feet into the sky and offers an observation deck with panoramic views of the city. Tickets are free, but it's worth reserving ahead if you want to ride the elevator to the top.

At the base of the monument, the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool stretches west toward the Lincoln Memorial, forming one of the most iconic sightlines in the country.

The largest of the reflecting pools in D.C., the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool is a long, tranquil pool that mirrors the city's most photographed skyline. It's a scenic and peaceful walk at any time of day and offers many spots to grab family photos.

U.S. Capitol and Library of Congress

Anchoring the eastern end of the National Mall, sits the U.S. Capitol. Visitors can explore the grounds or join a free guided tour, which offers access to the Rotunda, Statuary Hall and the Crypt beneath the dome. Just across the street is the Library of Congress, often described as one of the most beautiful buildings in Washington, D.C. The Thomas Jefferson Building boasts dramatic marble staircases, stained glass ceilings, and murals covering almost every surface. Join a free public tour or just take a walk through the halls.

Tidal Basin and Memorial Loop

Just south of the National Mall, the Tidal Basin offers a peaceful break from the city's grand architecture and bustling museums. This man-made inlet, framed by weeping cherry trees and broad walking paths, is a favorite among locals and visitors alike for its scenic views, waterfront loop, and powerful monuments.

The loop trail around the basin spans about two miles and offers a calming, tree-shaded walk with plenty of spots to slow down and reflect. The Jefferson Memorial, with its domed rotunda and stately columns, sits along the water's edge and makes for a stunning photo opportunity. Just around the curve, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial is powerful in both design and message, including inscriptions with excerpts from his speeches and writings.

Shift Gears into the Evening

After a full day of exploring there are still plenty of things to do in D.C. at night. If you want to keep the sightseeing for the morning, head to F1® Arcade for a well-earned evening of cocktails, mocktails, and shared plates before diving into the simulators for some friendly competition. The venue comes alive at night with an electric social atmosphere and immersive racing experiences that lets you take on world-famous F1 tracks.

While families are welcome during the day, the venue transitions to a 21+ crowd in the evenings, making it the perfect spot for adults looking for a fun, child-free night out.

Whether you're competing head-to-head or just cheering each other on, F1® Arcade offers a one-of-a-kind blend of energy, competition, and connection that makes any night feel like a special occasion.
